The Seeds were an American rock band. The group, whose
repertoire spread between garage rock and acid rock, are considered an
influential proto-punk band
The Seeds is the debut studio album by American garage rock
band The Seeds. It was released in April 1966 through GNP Crescendo Records and
produced by Marcus Tybalt and Sky Saxon. After the release of two singles for
"Can't Seem to Make You Mine" and "Pushin' Too Hard" in 1965, the album was
released and charted in the United States where it peaked at No. 132 on the
Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart. Modern reception of the album is positive,
with critics noting the album influence on punk rock a decade
later
Like many garage rock bands, lead singer Sky Saxon's vocal
style was influenced by the vocals of Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, but
have also received comparisons to the vocals of rockabilly acts such as Buddy
Holly and Eddie Cochran.
Modern reception of the album has been generally positive. In
their review for the double disc re-issue, Allmusic gave the album a positive
rating of four stars out of five, writing "The Seeds is probably the best album
by any of the original American garage bands, without the usual time-filling
cover versions and elongated jams, and of course it features the immortal
"Pushin' Too Hard" and the even better "Can't Seem to Make You Mine," two
classics of the Nuggets era."[7] The British music magazine Uncut gave the
compilation a positive rating of four and half stars out of five, describing the
album as "...A brilliantly simple, headlong surge of fuzz-drenched guitar,
bubbling organ riffs and Saxon's raw, throat-tearing vocals

A Web of Sound IN STEREO is the second studio album by the American
garage rock band the Seeds. Produced by Marcus Tybalt and released in October
1966, it contained the single "Mr. Farmer" and the 14-minute closing song "Up In
Her Room". The album did not chart, though it has received generally favorable
reviews from music critics.
Lead singer Sky Saxon conceptualized the album's cover design
depicting the four Seeds members trapped in a spider's web. A Web of Sound was
produced by Saxon under the pseudonym Marcus Tybalt; Saxon also wrote or
co-wrote all of the songs on the album (two credited under the Tybalt alias), as
well as the liner notes. Side one consists of six tracks, beginning with the
single "Mr. Farmer" and continuing with other garage rock-sounding songs, most
of them short in duration.[1] Side two contains only two songs, including the
14-minute closer "Up In Her Room", which features bottleneck guitar, electric
fuzz-bass, electric piano, tambourine, and drums.

PLUS FOR THE COLLECTOR WE ARE ADDING THE SEEDS SINGLES CD OF THEIR A & B SIDES - 24 TRACKS IN MINT CONDITION AS A FREE BONUS
Big Beat's Seeds campaign wraps up with a definitive anthology of their entire run of singles from 1965 to 1970, a collection that includes some of the band's best-known material including Can't Seem To Make You Mine, Mr. Farmer and their lone Top 40 hit, the garage rock touchstone that is Pushin' Too Hard.
Singles such as Satisfy You, The Wind Blows Your Hair and Bad Part Of Town have become as equally renowned in the years since. And Seeds' B-sides are almost as popular - tracks such as Out Of The Question, The Other Place and Wild Blood are all fan favorites.
This exhaustive 24 track collection is drawn from the original singles masters, which in most cases have never been available since their first issue; most cuts feature unique mixes and different edits.
After leaving the GNP Crescendo label in 1969, the Seeds moved to MGM for two swansong 45s, both included here, never before on CD. Bonus tracks are Excuse Excuse with a different vocal, issued on a French EP, and the original, unedited version of Pushin' Too Hard.
In keeping with our deluxe reissues of the Seeds regular albums, Singles As & Bs 1965-1970
