This is a beautiful and very rare example of early Victorian Art Glass. It's a 12" tall bulbous footed flower vase.  The Ruby glass is marvered in White Opal Overshot then blown to produce the Craquelle effect. Finished with Crystal pinch work at both the top and bottom.  The pontil was cut off from the top.  This type of art glass is very rare to find and in 25 years I have never seen this vase shape in this type of Art Glass.  After some extensive research it is found to be a product of J. Schreiber & Neffer  ca. 1895 in Vienna Austria.  Fairy Lamps are also known to be made by this company using the same Craquelle Overshot technique and in this color combination and they appear in documented catalogs.  Hobbs Brockunier also made this type of art glass in the 1880's and called it Snow Storm.  Stevens and Williams also made it and called it Aboresque.  This is a beautiful and rare example and the photos do not do justice.  The condition is very good. The only issue is slight rough edges to some of the crystal pinch worked feet.  In the enlarged photo of the base, notice how the artist pulled some of the crystal up over the side and curled the edges.  A masterful touch for sure.  There is no mineral deposit or crusty buildup inside.  The clarity of the glass is very good.  Any unusual white or dark spots shown in the photos are from camera glare.  This will make a great accessory to any Victorian home.  4207R1650
