This combo repeater has two main parts. A long range outdoor/indoor WIFI antenna gets signal from remote, then a high power router share the signal locally. Both parts work together, make the combo a revolutionary stand alone, wireless in and wireless out WIFI repeater system.

The combo is very easy to setup.

Antenna gain and radio power are the key for the transmission range. This combo has a 1000mW high power WIFI adapter and a high gain 20dBi antenna, one of the longest range setup in the market. Theoretically every 6dBi gain increase will double the transmission range. Compared to other products in the market, this unit has the highest gain and more than 16 times longer range.

We don't recommend permanently mount this antenna outdoor even if it's waterproofed. The chip inside maybe damaged in cold(< 0C or 30F) or extremely hot(> 50C, 122F) weather. If have to mount outdoor, use  this item instead. 

USB cable comes with the unit is 5 feet. For this combo, we supply one extra 16' USB repeater extension cable, make the total cable length 21'. that's also the maximum length can be used for this router. You may check other listings without the 16' cable.

Transmission Range:

Normally when calculating WIFI range, it's based on same power equipment at each end, clear line of sight, no interference from other network. In these ideal situations, this item can reach miles. Unfortunately, environment is always complicated in the real world.


Please remember, line of sight is the key for long range WIFI connection. Couple trees on the way may not affect much, but can't be buildings or woods. Also in the city area, lots of interference from other 2.4GHz networks, which will greatly decrease the range.


In a typical suburb, this unit can reach around 1/8 ~ 1/4 mile, based on good line of sight to the source  WIFI network building(of course source router can't be in the basement etc.), or around 1/2 mile in the countryside. These estimate are based on home router at the other side, if you can use higher power radio or external outdoor antenna, range can be further.


To measure the range ability of a setup, please check the total dBm. It's combines the radio power, antenna gain and cable loss etc together. This combo has 50dBm.

Important facts you should know before bid:




This panel USB antenna is directional, that means it only cover an narrow angle. When use it, you have to point it to the source with the white plastic side, not the metal side. With the USB cable point to the ground, it is a vertical polarized setup(most popular). Turn it 90 degrees, it will become horizontal polarized setup.

We recommend try the combo at close range first, make sure it works there, then try at remote location.

You may also test the panel USB antenna on a computer first, make sure you can get Internet on the computer, then plug the adapter into the router.


The router has to be setup first. Connect it to a computer via Ethernet(CAT5) cable or WIFI, run the setup process, after it connected to the remote network, then you can unplug the Ethernet cable, and use the signal through WIFI.


Line of sight and direction are the two key issues of using this antenna. Try it on a pole at least 20 feet high outdoor, or by the second floor window with the glass up, you will see the difference. The antenna has to be at upright position, with the white plastic side facing the signal, connector pointing to the ground.

If you need a USB extension cable, make sure use a USB "active" extension cable (also known as a USB repeater cable).  Those passive cable won't work on long length. For this combo, we supply one extra 16' USB repeater extension cable. That also the maximum length can be used for the router. Please note only one 16' repeater cable can be used for this repeater combo.




Range test result is based on same unit on each end, in clear line of sight. Because every application is different, we can' guarantee the result. For long range link(>1Km, or 0.6 mile), we recommend you install external antenna for the router side.

Q: "Do I need a wireless card in the computer to use this repeater system?"

A: Yes, to receive the signal wirelessly from the router, each computer, cell phone or game console must have its own WIFI adapter. However, you can connect to the router LAN port using Ethernet cable, in this case a WIFI adapter is not needed.

Q: "I have three computers and Xbox in my house, how can I use this repeater system for all of them?"

A: As long as each computer has its own WIFI adapter, it can use the signal from the router. Besides that, all the WIFI device including iPad, smart phone, eBook reader can access it.


 

Q: "Can I use this system for my MAC computer"

 

A:  There is no OS restriction for the system, any computer can use it. You may also use the panel antena directly via USB to your MAC computer(OS version restriction may apply).





Q: "Can I just use the USB antenna?"

 

A:  Sure, this repeater system can be used separately. An extra long range WIFI adapter for the computer and an 802.11N 500mW router.
