BROMELIAD AECHMEA WEILBACHII

This distinctive and beautifully formed species Bromeliad has soft but stiff, very glossy, light green and speckled leaves, the undersides are red bronze, which form a vase up to 30-40cms high and wide, the leaves are held upright and bear beautiful flowers of lilac and purple, followed by berries that are held on top of brillant red bracts on a stem to 60cms tall.

 A hardy species Bromeliad that does best in dappled light or partial shade and will adapt to full sun. An often overlooked genus from the lower canopy of Brazilian rainforests. The Inflorescense appears in late Winter and last 3 or 4 Months. Keep water in cups at all times. A species Bromeliad rarely offered.

Use an orchid type compost, humus and crushed pine bark for a porous and slightly acid medium. Keep soil somewhat dry, water once or twice each week, mist leaves if practical. Most Bromeliads adapt well to greenhouse, home or conservatory conditions.  Produces some offshoots and blooms reliably through the Spring.

Supplied as: 1 healthy offset plant 5"- 8" ht.   Plants are supplied bare root & carefully packed.

(Note: Bromeliads are mainly supplied as pups, ramets, as divided from mother plants, they sometimes have some roots, not always, this is normal, roots form fast on planting)
