Here is a really fabulous antique twin desk inkwell... as you can see it has two hinged lid CAPSTAN inkwells and the round ended pen depression at the front.
The centre has a brass plaque which has been engraved and says

Made from TIMBER
Removed from
H.M.S. BRITANNIA
Cadet Training Ship
At DARTMOUTH
1869-1905.

This plaque has been gilt but most has worn off now.
The left hand inkwell hinges up fine and has an actual pottery inkwell in situ.. the right hand side hinge is wobbly.. needs a fresh pin in the 2 piece hinge and it has lost its pottery inkwell... these can be sourced quite easy from antique fairs etc.
The desk inkwell is in overall good condition and would have probably been made as a souvenir after the ship was taken apart.
The wood is probably Mahogany or Teak.
It is 11 inch long x 8 inch wide x 4 inch tall.
