The Gas Strut operates under high pressure to assist lifting of the bonnet and holdling it in the open position
Items can be prone to wear, and early signs can be a wet residue where the piston rod enters the cylinder, indicating a leaking seal
Or the Bonnet will no longer stay raised by itself, and will drop as soon as released (being quite dangerous)
Total failure will result in the Bonnet being very heavy to open and not staying open
Please note: This is a replacement part only for vehicles already with a Gas Strut supported bonnet
