Up for sale is an engineering sample (ES2) of Xeon E5-2630 v4 (Broadwell-EP) processor. Tested for working on a Supermicro X10SRA motherboard. It will be packed in an original Intel antistatic clamshell protector and shipped in an ESD-safe conductive mailer.

Note: A BIOS upgrade may be necessary for motherboards manufactured prior to the introduction of Xeon E5-2600 v4 series. BIOS versions equal to or later than those we tested are all compatible.

  • Dell PowerEdge servers: support V4 processors with B0/M0/R0 stepping only
  • HP servers and workstations: support V4 processors with B0/M0/R0 stepping only

Motherboards:

  • Asus X99 motherboards: stalk at Q-Code 19 after reboot; support V4 (pre-)QS or production processors only
  • Gigabyte X99 motherboards: boot loop; support V4 processors with B0/M0/R0 stepping only
  • Some dual-socket Asus or Supermicro C612 motherboards with an outdated on-board chip firmware: cannot power on when the 2nd CPU is installed; support dual V3 or single V4 processor only
