From our family collections, from my drum closet...

"This came from a 1980's+ Professional Studio in the Smokey Mountains near here. Neglected not abused."
  • An ORIGINAL 1980(?) MIJ, TAMA MASTERCRAFT SNARE DRUM, version #8056, a seamless steel shell with Tama PC Die-cast Hoops, Tama RB roller bed strainer, and the largest 6 1/2 X 14" offered then:  See pictures
  • I found a 1980 TAMA Catalog that details this Mastercraft Series, seamless steel  shell, Original Tama lugs version, made prior to the Mastercraft 'long lug" versions:  See pictures
  • This has the original professional Tama RB ROLLER STRAINER, one of three optional strainers offered, and is adjustable on both sides, came with a extended long snare wires: See pictures or strainer
  • The correct TAMA oversized snare wire "is missing" for this strainer to work properly but a newer 20x Taiwan snare wire is included and works: See pictures
  • See the Original, clean, not bent,TAMA Imperialstar Badge, serial "No.166696": See pictures
  • This 1980 badge designates this was MADE IN JAPAN and badged as an IMPERIALSTAR: See pictures
  • The SHELL is ROUND, excellent bearing edges, NO DENTS, NO REPAIRS, see inside pictured: See pictures
  • Picture #8: 3 Original LUGS were replaced years ago with other lugs that seem to fit, NO EXTRA HOLES: See pictures - the newer replacement lugs look to to fit in the existing lug holes but hard to see if the holes have been altered to make the replacements fit and the current washers cover all.
  • All original ROLLER-STRAINER is complete on both sides: SEE PICTURES
  • TWO newer (but used) EVANS clear heads have low miles: See pictures
  • The shell, all the lugs and strainer has pitting and surface marks but all shine up, NO other damage I see
  • PLEASE SEE AND ENLARGE ALL PICTURES or ask questions - this is 37 years old.
  • This snare was in a small local mountain STUDIO for decades, neglected, was very dirty but not abused
Restoration? : Need 3 TAMA snare lugs,  needs proper extended snare wires made for the Tama roller-strainer , needs a TAMA 'one touch' tone control, what ever proper heads you prefer - and WHAM your ready for action.

This may be your Grandfathers Snare, if he bought the TOP OF THE LINE TAMA PROFESSIONAL SNARE in 1980 - 37 years ago ?  Not a beginner model and still a heavy but sensitive beast.

I am not a TAMA expert so if you know more about this drum let me know, and certainly ask questions.

I use FED-EX for this size and weight box and pass the discount on to you. If it is less I will refund the difference.
