Shoyeido Toh Makko Incense Powder

1 Ounce= ~28 grams

  • 1 resealable bag of Toh Makko incense powder, 1 ounce
  • This is a aromatic Incense powder with Makko which is self combustible.
This traditional blend features clove, cinnamon and other natural spices.
It may be use by itself as an incense and it can be
use as a blinder or base to make your own incense.

You can use this for incense cones, sticks, and koh trails.

When added to other incense ingredients makko allows one to make a workable dough that may be formed
into cones, sticks, or other shapes.
To make incense cones: All dry ingredients should be powdered as finely as possible. Mix ingredients and makko together well, then add enough water to make a firm but workable dough. Knead well and form into cones or logs by hand rolling. Put in a dry, cool place with good airflow until thoroughly dried.
Light and enjoy your own incense blends.

For pure woods 5-10% makko is needed depending on wood type.
If adding resins or herbs the proportion of makko needed to make it stick and burn might be greater.
Note: some woods not traditionally used for incense making, though very aromatic, do not bind well with makko.
If using non-traditional woods or other ingredients it is recommended to make a test batch to ensure your product will bind and burn.
If it won't burn, usually more makko or another 2 days drying is the key.
If it won't bind try more makko, but this might not solve the problem for some woods.
