This is a really rare and scarce card... I am sure you collectors of these cards will know what you are looking at..... you will also know that to find a card in its original box is rarer still.
To find a card of this delicate nature in beautiful original condition does not happen very often..... and you will be pleased to know I have 5 differant examples from the same deceased country house estate listed today.
The workmanship that has gone into the cards is really fabulous...so be sure to check them all out.
I have only photographed the cards and boxes.. I am not into restoration or glueing boxes up etc... I like to leave things in the condition I bought them in....so they are just as I got them.
So this one.... in the stiff grey card box..you can see this box is in really remarkable condition..... just a little grubby looking... but I am sure it has done well since 1876 not to have been thrown out and destroyed or burnt during the numerous world wars and family moves etc... who knows.. but its in SUPERB condition really....the top and sides of this box has some silky material on it and a gold paint trim on the lid edge.... no expense has been spared on this card or box.  
The top has hand written wording in fountain pen..... For Dear little Katie with Mamma's best love 1876..... Katie was clearly a well to do aristocratic family child.. born with a silver spoon in her mouth... I wonder where they resided.....on the other hand... little " Tommy " the vagabonds son wouldnt be getting a card like this. 

Take the lid off carefully....your eyes will now feast on the beautiful white, pink and gold peirced paper and silky material....with the finest of silk flowers and leaves mounted on the deep card.... sparys of little tiny flowers as well as larger flowers too... with a half pearl in each corner....... You may not have noticed but I am a bloke... but I can appreciate the work, time, enery and skill that has gone into making this card...it really is beautiful.
In the centre there is a silky pink and white material folded.. with the finest of fine edges I have ever seen... on the left edge there is a SCRAP like coloured chromo litho card picture of a CHERUB holding a bow and arrow.. so it could be CUPID of course too... gently OPEN these flaps of silk... and see another chromo litho scrap which is a bunch of flowers with the words FORGET ME NOT in the centre.....so its a type of VALENTINE card again.
It lifts out... there is nothing written inside the card... when looking from the side.. you can see how they have made the card... look deep.. it has concertina stiff paper at the corners to give it lift and a 3D look.... its very clever.
I have just seen one corner of the box lid has a tear down it.. and as allready said the outer box is a little grubby looking.. 

The box is 5 and a half inch wide x 8 inch long x 3/4 inch deep.

You will not be dissapointed with this card.

  • If you return the item because you've changed your mind, and  there is no error in the description, return postage will not be refunded.

 

  • UK BUYERS I accept CHEQUES in UK Sterling, PAYPAL or Cheque payments will incurr a DELAY in despatch, of 6 working days to clear.
