The .45 pistol was developed for the US Army in 1911 after the .38 failed to stop charging Moro warriors in the Philippines. US Army officers and NCOs carried the .45 during WW2, and a specially designed cleaning kit was issued at squad level to prevent corrosion and malfunctions. This US Army WW2 COLT 1911 .45 PISTOL M-1912 SQUAD CLEANING KIT STEEL "BANJO" OILER is in very good condition, with three small dents in the front left edge rim, some scattered scratching, "browning", surface chipping, and spot patina throughout, missing the cap from the top nozzle, and with some light overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the oiler is in fine shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage to the tough steel construction, which retains approximately 85% of the original OD finish. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic dispensing nozzle, sports a fully intact retention chain, and is a fine example of a rare, original US Army WW2 COLT 1911 .45 PISTOL M-1912 SQUAD CLEANING KIT STEEL "BANJO" OILER. No kit included. Now celebrating over 15 years on eBay. Bid with confidence and please view our other great military and aviation classics, including a very rare, original US Army WW2 PARATROOPER 11TH AIRBORNE MODIFIED + WINGS, OVAL BADGED IKE JACKET in excellent condition, having been tailor modified with the waist shortened considerably, and bearing the classic 11th Airborne Division patch and tab Japanese "fancy" cross stitched at the left shoulder.
