ROYAL WEDDING PRINCESS MARINA GREECE DUKE OF KENT WESTMINSTER ABBEY NEPAL 1934

Invitation to the Royal Wedding of H.R.H. Princess Marina of Greece and the Duke of Kent 29th November 1934. A poignant souvenir as this happy marriage was short lasting just 8 years before the tragic air crash at Dumbeath in the Scottish Highlands where H.R.H. Prince George,Duke of Kent was killed while on an RAF Flying Boat which crashed into a hillside at Dumbeath, Caithness while flying from Invergordon to Iceland. Nonetheless, Prince George and Princess Marina had three children during their marriage. Prince George shared accommodation with Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor before his marriage and was uncle to H.M. Queen Elizabeth the Second. He was the last member of the Royal family to marry a foreign princess and is father to Princess Alexandra. The invitation was sent to Sir Bahadur Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana who was the first Nepalese Envoy to London, arriving in the United Kingdom in 1934. Sir Bahadur was a member of the Rana dynasty which ruled The Kingdom of Nepal from 1846 until 1951.
