"Every burgh in the '70s that had a steady supply of weed and electricity provided a birthing ground for bands influenced by the likes of Jerry Garcia and Lowell George, and the Delaware area was no different. What was different was that in 1977 Snakegrinder made a record of their finest 'homegrown' attempts, for the local admirers, and then quietly slithered away. Worldwide recognition would take another generation or so. Since then, the album has garnered accolades from the Acid Archives crowd and so we felt the time was right to give the group's efforts a proper (and properly licensed from the band) presentation, with an 'old-style' heavy gatefold sleeve containing pics, gig posters, song lyrics and liner notes by producer and long-time fan Gregor Alligator." 100% licensed mastertape reissue. 180 gram vinyl in a tip-on gatefold jacket, featuring gig posters and full lyrics.
"Of the few known private pressings from Delaware, Snakegrinder might be the best. A typical westcoast-on-the-eastcoast jam outfit, I can hear traces of mid-'70s Dead, Santana, Little Feat and Zappa, but the end result is all Snakegrider. The vibe is a bunch of local stoner who have been jamming for years, written some tunes, and finally got together for an album to delight their buddies (indeed the LP was put together as a farewell present to their fans). The sound is rich and multi-dimensional with an impressive group-mind synchronization going pretty much any time they zoom off into jams. At times it sounds like Ray Harlowe & Gyp Fox, and anyone who likes the longer tracks on that LP is going to flip out here. This is not a '70s hard guitar jammer, but real deal acidrock with a multi-channel flow to rank among the best of them. Terrific musicians, a floating THC vibe, and long snaky tracks -- what more could one ask for?" - Patrick Lundborg/The Acid Archives
