Antique Italian or French 18th century crucifix carved and polychrome gilt finish to carved wood body of Christ.
The original carved figure of Christ on a cross in painted fruitwood is of early to mid 18th century origin and is in very good condition for its age…see all images ofr details. The black painted wooden cross the sculpture is mounted on is a modern bespoke handmade background mount in order to display this important Christian statue correctly.
A similar crucifix was sold by Drouot Paris for 2100 Euro : 18th March 2016
