THEY NEVER FOUND THE HEAD, POEMS OF SENTIMENT AND REFLECTION by DARRELL SCHWEITZER, illustrated by ALLEN KOSZOWSKI. Zadok Allen: Publisher, 2001. Strictly speaking this is a later printing of the first edition. That is, nothing has been changed, and it would probably be impossible to tell this from the first copy ever printed, but I can tell you that these are done in small batches by something resembling a Print On Demand process, i.e. you demand 'em and old Zadok prints 'em, at least when he is not gibbering too incoherently. (You will remember Zadok Allen as the town drunk in "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." He turned to publishing in later years, it seems.)

Another collection of hilariously ghastly verse, much of it of a decidedly Lovecraftian flavor, including the title poem, which begins:

I grew up with Uncle Eldritch

already some years dead,

but still he bothered us because

they never found the head.

Also includes "Another Dunwich Scandal," "Morbid Fancy," "What A Friend We Have in Dagon," "Popular Taste," etc. Several of these poems appeared in WEIRD TALES and one is the only limerick ever published in DREAMS OF DECADENCE, the DNA Publications vampire fiction magazine.

SIGEND by Schweitzer, who is an uncontrollable autograph slut.
