Barthelemy de Chasseneuz was a 16th-century French jurist who published a number of books on customary law which were an important influence on Napoleonic Code. In addition to this works on law, he wrote an extensive encyclopedia entitled ‘Catalogus Gloriae Mundi’. This book was a survey of every known topic with which Chasseneuz was familiar. However, the main focus of the work was French heraldry and societal ranks in the 15th-century. This 1612 edition includes charming illustrations throughout including dozens of coats of arms and family crests.
