COLOR:   Color varies from black, to light gray, to occasional yellow or brown.
Some of the stones are white or light grey speckled with quartz.

SHAPE:  Some of the stones are flat, others are rounded.

These stones have been gently washed to remove the bulk of dust and dirt.  

Basalt stone is typically more dense and heavy than most pebbles such as pea gravel, and hence usually a little more expensive than what you commonly find at a hardware store such as Lowe's or Home Depot because of the labor and expense in importing them, sorting them, and packaging them.
