The N138 used to be the name of the road (still) connecting Rouen in the north to Saintes in the south west.  It was reclassified in 1972 and sections have since been renumbered.

Vingt Hanaps and Radon are small communities five miles north of Alençon.  Hanap is old French for fine goblet or chalice.

This sign dates from around 1950 and was probably one that came down in 1972.

It is 18" high and 31" wide and very heavy gauge.
