Commemorating the Peterloo Massacre of 1819, and with in the greatest symbol of radicalism within the City of Manchester. Our design features the Red Flag of the radical left. The Peterloo Massacre itself is described on the plaque in St Peter's square (the current site of the cavalry charge) thus: "On 16 August 1819 a peaceful rally of 60,000 pro-democracy reformers, men, women and children, was attacked by armed cavalry resulting in 15 deaths and over 600 injuries".
