For this auction we are offering the first edition volume of

The Duck Chronicles, Book 1:  Ziggy, The Friendliest

Duck (Reader Edition).

This book was written by an award-winning author!

DESCRIPTION

The Story

Ziggy arrives at a bayside park as a young

adult duck. There, she lives alone as

the only duck in the park. She makes

friends with other animals and the

people who frequent the park. One day

a duck arrives who is not so friendly.

Ziggy must overcome bullying, ridicule

and loneliness even as she seeks to

find one true friend amidst the others

in the park who enjoy her outgoing

nature. Her willingness to respond

to kindness and friendship from all

who live there helps Ziggy achieve

her wish to make a true friend to

share her life with there in the park.

This book contains color and

B/W illustrations. Photocopy the B/W

illustrations at home or at a facility-based

learning environment as coloring book pages.

The final color image is a photograph of the

actual duck protagonists in this story.

This has Blank pages where children can write

responses to prompts about the story, create

their own illustration for something they have read,

or write a summary of the story are also present.

Several memory and interpretation prompts

are listed in a message to parents, teachers and

others who read the book to or with the child.

Play is encouraged both with coloring interludes,

learning to perform Ziggy's "dance", and word play

incorporated into the rhyming verses of the book.

Thus, visual, auditory and motor learning are

deliberately incorporated and are integral to

Ziggy's story!

There is also a SCIENCE COMPONENT:  the

habitat and behaviors of many animals common

in an urban park are featured in the book.

This book was analyzed using several

measures to confirm its reading level & readability,

and was found to be primarily at 3rd grade level,

although that always comes with the caveat that

the reading level of the child impacts

their understanding of the story.

The author will happily sign the book and/or provide

a personal greeting if asked to do so by the buyer.
