Collection of 13 black and white loose photographs documenting the 1947 University of Texas Round-Up Parade in Austin. 

Five small photos measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches, eight slightly larger photos measuring 3.25 x 4.5 inches. Vernacular photographs, some slightly out of focus and lacking sharpness. Still a nice little collection with some interesting details from the annual spring celebration, begun in 1930 for alumni and students, including street scenes, signage for a few old businesses, automobiles, costumes, another school's campus sweetheart-Joanna McCann, Sweetheart of Baylor, and a racist stereotype (black caricature) that foreshadowed the racial controversy of the event by the 1980s.

Overall good condition with some corner wear and paper residue from album page mounts. VELOX stamped on the back of all photos, though very faded. All of the larger photos have the handwritten notation in the upper white margins: "T.U. Round-up parade 1947."

OCLC locates one collection of visual material of 1940s parades in the University of Texas Libraries and a few other institutional collections that include some parade material from other decades. As we list this small collection in late 2019, we find no other collections of photographs or other visual material documenting the parade from any era for sale online.
