Costa Rica Naranjo Cattleya SHB Especial Rainforest Alliance

Strictly Hard Bean means the coffee must be grown above 1300 metres indeed this coffee is grown as high as 1700 metres. The varieties grown are Catuai and Caturra. The Guairá Morada or Cattleya Orchid, Cattleya skinneri is the Costa Rican National Flower. The Cattleya Project by Co-op Naranjo evolved to produce larger lots of superior quality coffee that is traceable and sustainable. The Co-operative works with agronomists and the Rainforest Alliance to produce a lovely bean, which we have darkly roasted making a strong, full bodied flavoursome cup. I shared my first one with a neighbour who thoroughly enjoyed it.
