Fine and authentic Keshan/Kashan rug, signed ''Keshan Ataee''. The rug has a floral design around a central medallion and has wonderful detail. It is an outstanding example with little wear considering its age (see details below), having been lightly used for much of its life. This is a rug of a high quality that would grace any room. The rug is made with very fine wool with natural dyes. The rug has an almost velvet-like feel. The weave is so tight and dense that furniture will generally not leave an indent in it.

Please carefully study the photos before bidding and feel free to ask questions.

We have been careful owners of this rug for about 15 years and it is currently stored in our home. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

Keshan is one of the major rug weaving centres in central Asia, with a reputation for some of the highest quality rugs. Keshan carpets have a very unique style and have distinctive patterns. Rugs and carpets woven in Keshan date back to the 16th Century. It was the major production and trading centre from where the rugs were exported all over the world. The famous Ardebil carpet, which can be seen at Victoria and Albert museum in London is considered to made in Keshan in the 16th century.
