Spectacular burgundy red color throughout autumn/winter. Ideal for low maintenance, low water use gardens and great cut flowers.
Medium height shrub with dark green leaves tinged wine red on red stems. An attractive and hardy hybrid, Lcd. laureolum x Lcd. salignum are its parents.
Tolerant of most well-drained soil types and conditions. Fast growing, vigorous compact plant.
Excellent choice for cut flower and foliage, screen and windbreak.


This beautiful and cold hardy Sunshine Conebush Protea 'Safari Sunset'  has large Burgundy flowers
 It is an evergreen and a loose upright shrub that blooms in Autumn and winter. 

Its superb blooms are beautiful when cut and last for two to three weeks in a vase.

As a hybrid Protea it is quite easy to grow tolerating slightly acid and alkaline soils as well as climates that are wet in winter and dry in summer. For best performance, plant it in full sun and soil that is moderately infertile. Soil must be fast-draining and porous; moist soils encourage fungal diseases. Amend loam and clay soils with grit and coarse organic matter to improve aeration and drainage. Do not fertilize, especially with phosphorus.
Plant this showy shrub in a prominent location to show off its magnificent flowers. Can tolerate low temperatures.

Trim spent flowers off in spring to encourage fuller growth and more blooms by early winter.

The plants are shipped with soil and root and are specially grown and packaged in Madeira.
