The RODE SC3 is designed to allow the smartLav/smartlav+ to connect to 3.5mm TRS devices such as cameras and audio recorders, the SC3 is a high-quality shielded adaptor.

As you can tell by looking at the smartlav/smartlav+ jack connector, it has been designed for smart devices, so this is where the RODE SC3 comes in handy when looking to connect through a standard audio signal. This device takes specifically the jack of the smartlav and smartlav+ and converts it to a standard audio signal to input into a camera or a portable recorder, like the much loved Tascam DR-05.
