A fairly scarce white metal medal here... you are more likely to see the original 1844 example which has a slightly different layout of wording on the rev.

This one of mine is a later version as its dated 1847 on the rev. ..so please make SURE you know which medal this is before pressing the buy it now button !

It is pierced at the top and close to the edge making the edge rise slightly... the example in the fabulous Medals ref book by Eimer number 1384 also shows this edge problem on the medal shown in there.

The medal is by Davis and has a really good picture of a Sailing Ship as I know there are collectors of just that.. Ships.

The medal does have some edge knocks and rubs and the wear on the high areas.

The London Missionary Society.

Has the date 1844 the year it was launched one side and in all the writing on the rev. it has the date 1847 where it was in the Thames.

It is 41.2 mm dia and it weighs approx.... 21.6 grams.
