Bill Helbock's excellent standard Alaska postmark catalog was last updated in 1986, 37 years ago. The catalog has now been updated to a fourth edition, and is offered here. There have been over 2,000 changes made in this updated catalog, with 364 new town postmark types, 1,659 new earlier and later reported dates of use, and new reported postmarks for 11 new towns and branches which previously had no reported postmarks in the 1986 edition. The time period for these postmarks covers the transfer from Russia in October, 1867 to the last day of territorial existence, January 2, 1959.
The catalog will be a standard reference for any collector of Alaska postal history or Alaska related history, or postmark collectors. It will be an essential starting point for anyone interested in exploring Alaska postal history.
