The Commemoration of Wars in Crockenhill, Eynsford & Lullingstone, Kent - subtitled 'The war memorials, with the names of those who died and of other servicemen'

Booklet published by the Farningham & Eymsford LOcal History Society, 49 pages. A4 size booklet (N7784)

This booklet provides information on the men from the Kent villages of Crockenhill, Eynsford and Lullingstone who fought and died in various wars, and who are commemorated on the various memorials. One entry is listed below to provide an idea of what information on the soldiers is recorded:

Robson, Harry Stuart : Lieutenant, the London Regiment, 10th County of London (Hackney) Battalion. Son of Harry and Charlotte Robson, 116, Calabria Road, Highbury, London. Husband of Laura Amy Robson (nee Bradshaw), Birling House, Station Road, Eynsford. He left one child, a son. Had served in the Territorial Force for some years and joined the Colours on the outbreak of war. In the autumn of 1914 he was sent to France but was invalided home in the summer of 1915 suffering from septic poisoning. He made a good recovery and in December 1915 he married Laura, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs R J Bradshaw of Birling House, Station Road, Eynsford (where the Bradshaws had a grocery business). He was commissioned in September 1915 and in January 1916 went to Egypt. He returned to France and had been there only a few weeks before he was killed 'in the great British attack of August 8th' [1918]. He had led his platoon gallantly through to a position which they captured and held, and was killed by enemy shellfire, aged 26. His chaplain wrote 11 most charming and kind in every circumstance". Commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France, panel 10.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
