A quality print from our restorations. Burne-Jones’ painting Laus Veneris (In Praise of Venus) began as an illustration and is connected with Algernon Charles Swinburne's poem of the same name. The artist has depicted a languorous Venus dressed in a red robe, her crown on her lap, attended by four female musicians with pages of sheet music. In the background are detailed mythological tapestries providing a fine backdrop.
