This listing is for a genuine vitreous enamel on sheet steel building sign.

6" x 10"

1930s.  Very high quality.  Heavy gauge.  Domed with the black enamel in relief.

The closest translation to English is Registration Office.  Though the closest named buildings in UK today are Register Offices (births, marriages, deaths).

The Bureau de l'Enregristrement had branches/offices in major cities and was part of the French national taxation system.  In 1948 it was dismantled and amalgamated with two similar departments/agencies in order to create a single organisation.  They were collectively renamed Direction Générale des Impôts.  So this sign cannot post-date 1948.
