Wagner Handwork Kunstlerschutz (Fritz Wagner Arts & Crafts) was established in the late 1940s & eventually closed in 1998. Wagner produced animals under the the traditional German method using wood, plaster, clay and paper mache and covering them with wool or other fibres like flocking for Christmas nativity and village scenes known as Putz scenes. In their early years they produced animals and wind-up toys for Max Carl Toys & these items are identified with the Monkey-Head paper label with the MC logo. Later production shows the fw intertwined logo and Handwork Kunstlerschutz West Germany and after the reunification the label changed to Wagner Handwork Germany
