"Butterflies are Free" is a working movie script from 1971 Signed by Producer Arthur Whitelaw, who worked on both the Broadway and film versions. The condition of the script is "Used". There is some wear and tear from age, and a few coffee stains on the back. But the script is basically in good shape. Butterflies Are Free is am American comedy-drama from 1972. Based on the 1969 play by Leonard Gershe, the movie was produced by M.J. Frankovich for Columbia Pictures. Directed by Milton Katselas--and adapted for the screen by Gersh---the film was released in 1972 in the United States. The story is about a woman, Jill Tanner, (played by Goldie Hawn) who moves into a new apartment in the city of San Francisco. Her apartment is next door to a blind man named Don Baker (actor Edward Albert) who's recently moved away on his own. The mutual attraction results in their eventualyl moving in together. However, Don's overly-protective mother (played by Eileen Heckart) wants to end their romance, thinking that the free-spirited Jill will break his heart. Eileen Heckart, recreating her original role on Broadway, won an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance. 

Arthur Whitelaw, whose signature appears on the title page, is a well-known producer, director and actor. His award-winning work on Broadway introduced Liza Minnelli (in ""Best Foot Forward") and started the careers of many others, including Christopher Walken and Kristin Chenoweth. His various productions have played all over the world in many languages. They include: "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown," "Cabin in the Sky," "Minnie's Boys," and "70 Girls 70!" His NBC Production of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown," received an Emmy nomination. His other film credits include: "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" with Jodie Foster.
