Well I knew this box was very grand and Royal related which is in fact a Gift to attendees of The Wedding of Crown Prince Hamzah of Jordan and Princess Noor bint Asem at Raghdan Palace in Amman on this day 27th May 2004.

The official wedding in Amman followed a religious wedding in Amman the previous summer hosted by King Abdullah II at Zahran Palace.

Unfortunately the happy couple of that day 27th May 2004 were divorced in 2009.

You can google this Royal wedding and see who attended it too ....I do NOT know who this box belonged to though but they must have been someone of importance to actually be at such a grand occasion.

Doing a little more research I have found an interesting page from the Daily Star Lebanon which says they wanted a low key wedding with 1500 guests and no fireworks when the cake was being cut. It then goes on to say about the couple wanting to follow tradition and give a prenuptial gift for all invited, a sterling silver cigarette box and worry beads made from Lapis Lazuli the work of a prestigious Lebanese born international jewellery designer. Entwined initials of the couple are inscribed on the gifts in a fashion that evokes memories of the King Hussein and Queen Noor.

This box has NO hallmarks or makers marks and I have NOT tested it for the metal content.

This is known as a PARTY FAVOUR  given as a gesture of thanks for their attendance, a memento of the occasion.

It has a really nice vivid blue enamel pattern on the lid alongside an engraved Jordanian Royal Crown emblem and a calligraphy monogram below it.

The Crown is fine engraved on the box lid whereas the calligraphy monogram is impressed onto the lid when the box was made....it has been done at the same time as the enamel work.

Inside the lid it is engraved - etched with the same Royal Jordanian Crown and the calligraphy monogram and the date 27 May 2004 in English and in Jordanian.

No other information given. No maker's marks etc.

My price has nothing to do with the metal content.

It is a rare Royal collectable which I would think you will not see too many on the market as most people that got one of these will still have them in their possession, sat on their drawing room table for all to see and know who's wedding they attended.

It is in collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. No damage to the box from what I can see.....it does have some scuffs and rubs of course on the flat base.
Please see pictures for more details.

It measures approx. 5 and 1/2 inches x 3 and 1/8 inches x 1 and 1/4 inches deep... it weighs approx...... 264 grams.
