Nut

To allow for smoother operation the grooves on the nut have disappeared. The smooth outside surface on the nut prevents turbulent airflow and noise. This reduces vibration, increases tool life and improves quality of the work piece. The nickel plating on the nut has a lower coefficient of friction to reduce power consumption and saving money.

SK Collet

The advantage of the SK collet system is that it has a low taper, longer body and a flat upper surface for clamping. The low taper angle directs more force onto the cutting tool instead of toward the spindle. SK16 collets generally produce twice as much clamping force than ER32 collets. The longer body provides deeper seating resulting in less runout. Additionally a simple flat surface for the nut to clamp on provides high accuracy and stability at high RPM.

Material

20CrMnTi stainless alloy is ideal for obtaining material stability, resist corrosion and to achieve the desired hardness of RC 58-60. Mn (Manganese) and Ti (Titanium) are essential elements needed to stabilize the grain structure of the steel. Without these elements the steel grain structure can crack, move and warp over time with terrible consequenses to the runout or stability. Additionally Cr (Chromium) is added to help in resisting corrosion. Lastly the material is case hardened to 56-60 HRC to match the hardness on the mating surfaces of the spindle. If these hardnesses are not matched the holder and or spindle can have premature wear. With case hardening the center of the holder stays softer around 30 HRC to handle the repeated clamping forces changing tools without cracking.

Electroless Nickel Plating

This tool holder features nickel plating not only to give it a incredible shine, but to prevent rust and prevent wear. Unfortunately the perfect alloys for tool holders are not rust free. Every alloy used by top brands will rust. To go a step above, this tool holder has a uniform nickel plating that will resist corrosion while keeping a tight runout. Nickel plating is also tough and will prevent wear causing this holder to keeps it's precision longer with repeated use.
