Antique French 18th Century Louis XVI Cylinder Writing Desk
Description:
Mahogany and Walnut / Burled Wood with Ormalu (gilt bronze) details, circa 1780's with dark green Rain Forest Marble top, which has a crack - front to back - that is difficult to notice.
Has 3 ornamented drawers above the cylinder rolltop. Drawers slide smoothly and cylinder also moves smoothly and has locking mechanism (seems to be stuck-no locking) with key.
Interior comprised of 2 drawers and a desktop that is fitted with a tooled green leather writing surface, which slides out for more surface area. Below the desktop is one more locking drawer which uses the same key (works) as the cylinder rolltop. The desk is raised on tapered, fluted legs with incised gilding and ormolu cuffs at the top.
Measures: 34.25” Wide x 20.25” Deep x 45.5” Tall. Desk height: 30.5”, knee height: 25”
