Hints in Map Reading Instruction, 1943

Published by the War Office in 1943, 24 pages. Small booklet - c.12cm by 18cm (A23R)

During the Second World War the War Office produced a series of booklets to help with military training, and they covered a range of topics (including unit organisation, tactics, equipment etc). This booklet deals with reading maps, and includes sections on the map as a plan, map references, measurement of distances, relief, direction, and finding positions.

The condition of the booklet is generally ok. The covers have lots of scuffs, blemishes and creases, and creasing and wear along the edges and corners, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are intact and bound. There is yellowing to the inside pages throughout.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
