This is a large stack of paperwork / ephemera in the form of typed out writing that was done by J. E. Crawford Flitch, retired Captain and Barrister as well as a famous author from London.
There are typed and hand written references to when he lived at  GOTTEN MANOR at CHALE on the Isle of Wight which he bought in 1937.
He was born in Yorkshire 1881 and died in 1946.
Another title is THE KIND FRIEND approx 5500 words written at Gotten. This one has crossed out wording and added words etc in pencil.
There are others with the address as CRAWFORD FLITCH, La Disme, Giverny, Eure, France.
DIE NATUR and a couple of others are typed in German by the look of them.
The Whisper typed in 1934. 
A copy of a letter to Mr Santayana April 13th 1934. This chap is George Santayana ..another famous author of the same period.
Then there is a typed 6 verse poem titled A SHROPSHIRE LAD ( NEW STYLE ) ... this has his address as The Athenaeum Pall Mall London. ..and also says See Daily Telegraph Nov. 6 1933.
Then a much larger work titled HISTORICAL NOVEL with 381 pages and looks to be unfinished.
Another short story titled MURDER IN THE FOURTH DIMENSION.
A very interesting manuscript of archive material for someone to enjoy.
 
It looks to be various novels  of some kind with a smaller folder of additional verses.
The paperwork itself is obvious old but I can't see any dates.
There is one date 1934 at the end of a type script.
The paperwork is aged and discoloured and I'm not sure if all of the pages are there because they have just been thrown in loosely. They have had old paper clips holding them together which have rusted and worn away.. so its abit of a jumble really.
Good research project for someone. These may be UNFINISHED work of his whilst he was a student and before he became a famous writer, or work that he was not happy with so never went to publication. 
There is a small printed letter from " PUNCH " Office  which says the Editior of Punch regrets that he is unable to accept the enclosed contribution... and has some hand writing below as well.
The typed sheets are mainly loose and are about 10 inch x 8 inch. Within the folder its 2 and half inch deep of paper.

   The item(s) are shown next to an English 1 penny which is 20mm dia for scale.

Conversion ... approx... 2.5cm = 25mm = 1 inch

  • If you return the item because you've changed your mind, and  there is no error in the description, return postage will not be refunded.

 

  • UK BUYERS I accept CHEQUES in UK Sterling, PAYPAL or Cheque payments will incurr a DELAY in despatch, of 6 working days to clear.
