USS Nimitz is the lead ship in her class of 1,040 foot nuclear aircraft carriers. She was commissioned in 1975 and was serving in the Pacific Fleet at her home port at Everett, WA, that started in 2012. She is now listed for decommissioning.

She is scheduled to be decommissioned by 2025. She was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation in 2010. See her web pages for the details of her design, construction and service history.
