I purchased this old wooden Ballot Box at an estate sale where the owner said it came from a local Masonic Temple.  Box appears to be handmade, very well made, with 16 small wooden boxes inside.  Slotted on top to drop the ballots.  Inside, each BOX is numbered on all sides, as well as the bottom-inside so the boxes can be put in their correct spot.  Lid is hinged.  Box front has a hook clasp.   I can see no decoration or wording on the box, so I do not know which temple he was referring to.  The finish is "pebbly", very old and probably the original varnish finish.

SIZE: TOTAL: Approx   11 1/2"  square and  3 3/4" inches (box only) or  5 1/2" high including the handle.   Each small box is about  2 1/2" square.

CONDITION: As found, with age darkening and rough/pebbly finish as expected, and corner, edge wear as expected.  VIEW ALL PICTURES as they show condition better than can be described by words.   Light areas are scratches.  No foul odor.  Bottom is dry, with age wear to the wood.    Strong & Secure.   Sturdy.     If you like genuine antique pieces  this box will look superb in your home.     Please look at all the pictures.
