Physical characteristics
Vaccinium angustifolium is a deciduous low bush plant in Nova Scotia, It is in flower from June to July, and the fruits ripen in August,
It prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid soils and can grow in very acid soils.
Edible uses
Fruit: raw or cooked. A very sweet pleasant flavour with a slight taste of honey.

Cultivation details
Requires a very acid soil PH range 4.5 to 6. Prefer sunny spaces and sheltered from strong wind. Dislikes roots disturbance.
A very hardy plant can tolerate -40C.
A clumping plant, forming a colony from shoots away from the crown but with a limited spread.
The root pattern is flat with shallow roots forming a plate near the soil surface.
Propagation
From seeds: stored seeds need up to three months cold stratification. Seedlings need to stay indoor for their first winter.
From cuttings: 3 -8cm half ripen cuttings. Layer time spring, summer or autumn. Difficulty. May take 18 months to roots.
From suckers: Divide suckers in spring or early autumn.
