ABOUT THE KEY SWITCH ASSEMBLY:   Although many homes and businesses have gone to WiFi, smart phones and wireless remotes (to open and close their overhead doors, turn on and off their security systems, and toggle their lighting on-and-off), many applications merely need to utilize a simple, hardwired, momentary key switch to accomplish the job.

KEY SWITCH OPTIONS / VARIATIONS꞉  We have incorporated FOUR different key switch variations in this listing to better meet your needs.  

We have a wired option for buyers who don't have access to a soldering iron / gun and we have a "non-wired option" as well.  So we have key switches with wires or without wires.  

We also have two one-way screw options꞉  Two 1¼" #6 oval head sheet metal / wood screws (for securing the stainless steel plate to wood, siding, or other material) or two 1" oval head 6-32 machine screws (to secure the key switch to a standard single-gang electrical box).

ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION INFO꞉  The key switch cylinder incorporates the standard "Single-D" 3/4" footprint.  The key switch, retaining nut, two keys and stainless steel plate weigh approximately 4.4 ounces (126 grams).  The stainless steel plate measures approximately 2.67" wide, 4.51” tall, 0.17” deep.  The distance between the screw holes is the industry standard of 3.25" (3 9/32”)..  They key switch, when mounted in the stainless steel plate protrudes approximately 1.54" into the wall / box.  Add an extra 1/2" to allow for the wires (so figure you're going to need a hole / single-game box that's roughly  2½" - 3" deep.

WHY USE ONE-WAY SCREWS?꞉  This assembly is primarily designed as an "add on" to residential garage doors (to allow children to easily come and go, garbage men, caregivers, landscapers, the neighbor kid that mows your grass, etc.) -or- in factory / industrial settings to restrict who can open and close overhead / pedestrian doors or toggle on lighting / HVAC / building automation.  It can also be used to toggle many security systems on and off.  The purpose of the one-way screws is so that after the key switch is installed, someone can't easily back-out the screws and short the contacts.  Everything you need in one purchase:  Key switch, tubular keys, stainless steel mounting plate and one-way tamper-resistance screws.
