ABOUT THE ITEM꞉ Holy cow!  We couldn't believe it when we gained access to this particular component:  Original Monster Cable VC-2 UHF PL-259 Male -to- RCA Female gold-plated connectors!  What a tremendous find!

WHY ARE GOLD-PLATED CONNECTORS BETTER?꞉   Gold plating is expensive, really expensive!  So why plate electrical connectors with gold?  Gold is one of the few metals that are least susceptible to oxidation, thus gold offers exceptional corrosion protection.  In addition, gold increases electrical conductivity by minimizing the formation of surface oxides. Gold also produces a smooth finish that enables a solid connection with the mated surface.  Gold provides excellent resistance against normal wear and tear, which can lengthen the contacts’ lifespan.  Gold is not susceptible to fretting (the gradual wearing away of the contact surface due to rubbing or friction).  Finally, and probably the most important benefit - - gold-plated connectors look fantastic!

WHO IS MONSTER CABLE?꞉ Monster Cable was founded in 1979 by a laser-fusion design engineer previously employed at Lawrence-Livermore Laboratory.  The engineer's original focus was on engineering superb audio cables (i.e. wiring); the link between amplifiers and speakers.  The company, based in San Francisco, later added complimentary products, such as high-quality gold-plated connectors to their product line.  It made sense꞉ Why engineer superb cables only to insert distortion by using low-grade connectors?
