USS Franklin D. Roosevelt:  President Roosevelt died in April 1945 and the

Navy named the next carrier to be built in his honor. Commissioned on Navy Day

1945, this proud WW II era 968' Midway Class carrier made one deployment to Vietnam

waters between August 1966 and January 1967. The vessel mainly served in the Med
