Please note: I have added 22 photos to the bottom of this listing to try and show the item in as much detail as possible so please take the time to view them all carefully.

This is an original handwritten vellum document from c1619 during the reign of James I and VI of England and Scotland respectively.

This document is extremely rare because it has his original Great Seal at the bottom which measures approx. 6 inches in diameter.

This document written in Latin and is relating to a property in Culverthorpe, Lincolnshire. The penmanship is really nice and has exaggerated decoration on the J and b in the first word Jacobus. It is dated 1610 or 1619 on the back. I think there is a fine lower stroke of a number 9.. so 1619.

The obverse of the wax seal depicts King James sat on a throne under a canopy and the reverse depicts James riding on horse back holding a sword in the air with a dog running alongside.
Some of the finer detailing on the seal has been worn i.e. on James' face. The seal is also damaged on the top edge and there are some chips throughout but otherwise, in really nice condition. The seal is slightly warped.  Usually these GREAT SEALS are broken in half or gone altogether so this is a bonus it is still attached.

The weights on the corners of the document are not included, they were just used to flatten it for photography purposes since it has been folded up for hundreds of years.

The vellum is folded and creased heavily but no rips or tears as far as I can see. A small slivver of vellum is cut off the very bottom edge, this was probably used to keep it together. There are a couple of tiny holes in the vellum which are barely noticeable.
The vellum is discoloured in places, mostly on the folded edges.

Be assured this is a Genuine English official document from the said period with a genuine GREAT SEAL attached.

The document as a whole measures approx. 17 inches x 13 inches with the seal measuring approx. 6 inches in diameter.

Culverthorpe is a small hamlet in the Parish of Culverthorpe & Kelby near North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire.

If you can read Latin what a great gift that must be as you could possibly see who the document refers to and really bring it to life. Remember this is the only existing document, there are NO copies of this particular document in the museums. A really great item for the local historian or County archive collection.
