This is an original handwritten vellum document from the Commonwealth / Oliver Cromwell era of England.

It has the words The Keepers of the Liberty of England by authority of parliament  rather than a Sovereign's name.

This document is written in part Latin as well as English and dated 1659.

The penmanship is really nice and has exaggerated decoration on the first word The, especially the T.

There is also a hand drawn decorative header with a foliage sort of pattern.

It is quite easy to read this one, having said that I can make out only a few words as one needs to get ones " eye in " to concentrate to read the wording. I can see peoples names such as William & John as well as the place name Yorke.

I think it is to do with 1659 Trinity Term between  Joseph Ash and William Blount's wife.

A signature at the bottom with a hanging down vellum part, there is NO wax seal on this document.

The weights on the corners of the document are not included, they were just used to flatten it for photography purposes since it has been folded up for hundreds of years.

The vellum is folded and creased heavily but there are no rips or tears as far as I can see.
The vellum is discoloured in places, mostly on the folded edges.

The document as a whole measures approx. 21 and 1/2 inches x 10 and 1/2 inches with the piece that should have had the seal attached measuring approx. 9 and 1/2 inches long.
