The classical maiden stands in a contrapposto position, holding a rope of flowers to her chest, as the long robe slips off her gentle frame. With her eyes downcast, she gives the beholder, the emotion of a sullen pensiveness, as though she is weighed down by an ailing heavy heart. Her hands move to touch her heart only to find a foreign feeling and the fleeting echoes of a beating sadness. She was cast using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish. She is mounted upon a black marble base with the artist A. Moreau's signature.
