For Sale I have a collectable & decorative hand carved treen or turned wood/wooden miniature Greek-style urn. This is signed to the base by the well-known Surrey wood carver Bob French. This item is in excellent condition although I mention for accuracy that the lip of pot has sustained a slight chip on one side (see photos). This is reflected in the starting price. Shipping for this item is £3.49p by Royal Mail 2nd Class services (this is the exact cost of the postage - I don't charge for packaging etc).
Theis a tactile piece of wood craftmanship. It is approximately 6.5cms in height and 5cms in width (at its widest point). I would estimate were made in the last 30 years.
Biography of the woodcarver:
Bob French is a woodturner and woodcarver based in my home town of Cheam in Surrey. Bob originally came from a boat building family and went into engineering as a career which lasted until he was badly injured in a motoring accident. During his recovery he was introduced to woodturning. Following his recovery he had to leave engineering and in 1982 took up woodturning seriously and began making items to sell at Craft and Antique Fairs. After working in the furniture trade for a time he became a professional wood turner in 1985 when he got a large order formaking decorative kitchen cabinet spindles. In making his apples, Bob mainly works in plum wood and is a member of the Cheam Woodturners Association and a founder of the Surrey Association of Woodturners for which he is Life President.
