The tunes in the book can be played on either of the above mentioned keys without the Cds. The only acception is the three row. There the lower scales DO RE Mi etc; on the outside row, start on the number 2 button. In this case just pretend that the Number 2 button is the number 3 button as written in the book and play as usual. All our song books are written in the same manner. Sample Lesson Notations Numbers written like this 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Push the bellows (IN) together. Numbers written like this 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Pull the bellows (OUT) apart. Positioning your accordion. Place your left hand in the strap, place your right thumb in the thumb strap, index finger on button 3, 2nd. on 4, 3rd. on 5 and little finger on button 6. Keep your fingers on these buttons. Eg: Little finger plays the number 6 button. Place the accordion on your left lap with the bellows just to the left of your thigh. Resting the bellows on the thigh will cause extra wear of the bellows and lessen the control of the instrument. After getting acquainted with holding the accordion you can proceed. NOTE: The scales on outside rows (keys of G and A) of the three row accordions, GCF and ADG, start on the 2nd. button from the top. Just pretend that the 2nd. button is the 3rd. Remembering the notations let's play the lower scales, buttons 3 to 6. How To Play The Scales. Do push 3, Re pull 3, Mi push 4, Fa pull 4, So Push 5, La Pull 5, Ti Pull 6 Do Push 6 When comfortable with playing from the Do push 3 line play from the major scales above. Play the Scales from buttons 3 to 6 then continue playing back from 6 to 3. When you can play the Lower Scales forward and back six times in a row without making a mistake then you are ready to play the nursery rhymes.
