Please note: I have added 20 large photos to the bottom of this listing to try and show the item in as much detail a possible so please take the time to view them all carefully.

This is a really fabulous 18th Century clear glass free blown with a cut off pontil scar on the not so circular pedestal base. As you can see it is a really nice baluster shape with a wide mouth drinking tankard of small size. Hand applied and worked handle too.

Nice fine engraved FLOWER to the front with a smaller leaf above and a longer leaf on the raised rim just below the wide mouth part.

You do not often see these in glass but you will find  stoneware and pottery examples quite often. This shape is more associated with the Medieval period through to the 18th Century low countries and German, Dutch pots.

The clear glass does have inclusions in it as well as air bubbles. It has NO damage as such but if you look at one side where the applied handle part is at the top it has a manufacturing mark here from the place they have created the bump rim around the neck. It looks like a crack but be assured it is NOT. The only issue some may have is that it has a broken out air bubble just below the top rim on the inside, nothing more.

See the shape of the wide mouth from the stuck out rim, this is at a slight angle which is typical of 17th Century wine bottles from the shaft & globes and into the onion phase.

As you look at the glass from the side you can see how the blower has created the baluster shape and it has the appearance of a stoneware thrown pot of the same shape and style.

In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear.

Please see pictures provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition.

It measures approx. 4 and 3/4 inch tall. I am going to measure it with my digital calliper for an accurate measurement. It is 119mm tall and the base is not circular its about 60mm dia. but an odd shape. The applied handle is 66.5mm from the top of the handle to the bottom applied part. The handle is a strap like but has a groove in it. 14.9mm wide at the bottom end of the handle and 15.4mm wide at the top end where its joined to the mouth part x 9.6mm wide in the middle and at this point the handle is 7.1mm deep. The top mouth rim is 41.7mm dia. Below that is the stuck out rim which is 47.6mm dia. and it is 13.2mm below the top mouth rim. The baluster pot belly is 67mm dia. and the pedestal base is 20.3mm tall from the base rim to the bottom of the baluster shape bottom.

The fine engraved main flower is 61.2mm long as the crow flies x 34.2mm high.

It is in really fabulous condition and will look well in amongst your shaft & globes, onions and bladders. Or if you collect period drinking glasses.
