Her version of Kay Starr’s Christmas classic "(Everybody's Waitin' for) The Man with the Bag," after it was featured on a season 4 episode of Ally McBeal, became a popular holiday song.[1][2][3] She plays piano, bass, and guitar.

Life and career
Vonda Shepard was born in New York City in 1963. Her family relocated to California when she was a child. She played piano from an early age. Her father is Richmond Shepard, a mime and improvisational actor. Vonda has three sisters.[4]
She has released fifteen albums, including eight solo albums, three live albums and four albums for Ally McBeal.
Throughout her career she has played keyboards and sung with Jackson Browne, Al Jarreau and Rickie Lee Jones.
Vonda has sold over twelve million albums and has won two Golden Globes, two Emmy awards and two Screen Actors Guild awards and the Billboard award for selling the most television soundtrack albums in history.
While on Ally McBeal, Vonda was the “behind the scenes” music producer, producing over five hundred songs for the artists Sting, Robert Downey Jr., Gladys Knight, Chubby Checker, Al Green, Randy Newman and many more.
Vonda continues to tour the world, playing her original material and the faves from her days on Ally McBeal. Her latest album is titled Rookie, and Vonda is currently writing her next album.
After performing as a backing singer for many years, she eventually got her own recording contract. Shepard's first chart appearance was in 1987, when she recorded a duet with Dan Hill entitled "Can't We Try." Before this, she had tried out for the part of Michael J. Fox's sister in Light of Day, but she lost the part to Joan Jett. She was also poised to sing on Peter Cetera's duet "The Next Time I Fall," but he picked Amy Grant instead. She released her first self-titled album in 1989, but with little fanfare. The album did yield one chart single, "Don't Cry Ilene," a middle-tempo piano-driven jazz-R&B flavored song dealing with the break-up of a relationship between a black woman and a white man, arising from adult peer pressure. The track is sung from the perspective of the woman's white female friend, who harbors a desire to have the man for herself, but keeps her distance out of respect for her friend. The song peaked at Number 11 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart and stayed on the charts for 12 weeks.[5]
After her third album, Vonda was signed up to appear on Ally McBeal after the show's creator, former attorney David E. Kelley, spotted her. While on the show she recorded two full soundtrack albums and was featured on two other Ally McBeal compilations. The songs that Shepard recorded for the Ally McBeal soundtrack albums were mainly covers of old songs with lyrics that paralleled what was happening in the title character's life on-screen. However, "Searchin' My Soul," which became the album's biggest hit single after Kelley chose it for the show's titles theme, was an original selection jointly written and composed by Vonda and Paul Howard Gordon. Since her appearances in the show, Shepard has released two more studio albums and a live album.
Vonda married music producer Mitchell Froom in 2004; they had their first child in 2006. She is also the stepmother to Froom's daughter, Ruby, from his marriage to Suzanne Vega.
Vonda provided vocals for "I Need You," whose music had been composed by James Newton Howard, for the 2010 film Love & Other Drugs, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway.[citation needed]

Singer/songwriter Vonda Shepard enjoyed one of the more unique career breakthroughs in pop music history; while most performers rely on radio airplay or relentless touring to win fans, Shepard instead shot to fame as a result of the hit television series Ally McBeal, which featured her performing live on an almost weekly basis. Shepard was born in New York City in 1963, but her family relocated to California a few years later; there Shepard studied voice and piano, and was just a teen when she recorded "Can't We Try," a duet with singer Dan Hill. After touring as a backup singer for Jackson Browne, she recorded her self-titled Reprise label debut in 1989, the LP sacrificing the bluesy soulfulness of her music in favor of slick production values. Only weeks after the release of her 1992 sophomore effort, The Radical Light, Shepard was dropped by Reprise; she spent the next several years without a label or a manager, instead becoming a fixture of the L.A. club circuit. There she developed a small but ardent cult following, independently releasing It's Good, Eve in 1996; among her fans were TV producer David E. Kelley and his actress wife, Michelle Pfeiffer, and when Kelley set about creating his comedy-drama Ally McBeal for the Fox network, he tapped Shepard to become the show's musical voice. Not only was The Radical Light's "Searchin' My Soul" used as the series' theme, but Shepard herself became a regular cast member, playing the house performer at the local nightclub the program's title character and her co-workers frequented. As Ally McBeal emerged as a breakout hit, it reignited Shepard's career, and a major bidding war to land the rights to a series soundtrack followed, with the record Songs from Ally McBeal appearing in mid-1998. By 7:30 was released in April 1999 by Jacket Records; a second Ally McBeal collection followed later that same year.

Career
Between 1972 and 1978 he studied classical trombone at the music college in Karlstad, Sweden and continued his education in the university in Arvika. After meeting the Swedish folk-jazz pioneer Bengt-Arne Wallin and trombonist Eje Thelin, Landgren was persuaded to move from his strict classical studies to improvisation and to begin the development of his own sound and approach to music.[1]
After his graduation, Landgren moved to Stockholm to work as a professional trombone player. He was soon touring with the successful Swedish pop star, Björn Skifs.[2] Skifs's band, Blue Swede, recorded a number one hit song in the U.S. pop charts with "Hooked on a Feeling".[1][3] In 1981, Thad Jones invited Landgren to join his big band, called Ball of Fire, as the lead trombonist. Landgren has worked in many genres: jazz, rock, soul, hip hop, and big band. By his own reckoning, he has contributed to at least 500 albums by such international stars as ABBA, The Crusaders, Eddie Harris, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Wyclef Jean, and Herbie Hancock.
In 1983, he recorded and released his debut album as a solo artist. Planet Rock[2] was followed by Streetfighter (1984), You Are My Number One (1985), Miles from Duke (1987) with Bengt-Arne Wallin, Chapter Two 1 (1987), Chapter Two 2 and Follow Your Heart (1989). Between 1985 and 1987, he performed as an actor, singer, trombonist, and dancer in over 360 performances of the Swedish "play of the year", SKÅL, and apperead in several TV-films as an actor.[3]
In 1992, the first performances and recording of the Nils Landgren Unit took place. His breakthrough beyond Scandinavia occurred in 1994 at the Jazz Baltica Festival at Salzau, Germany. The "Unit" became the Nils Landgren Funk Unit. The album Live in Stockholm (ACT) was released that year and was the foundation for the collaboration with Siegfried Loch and his then nascent ACT label.[3]

Per Lindvall entered the ABBA picture relatively late. His youth had something to do with this: he was only 21 when he made his ABBA debut on the session for Super Trouper (the song) in October 1980.
Per had been touring as a drummer since he was 13, and started working as a session musician in 1978. The following year he became a member of Janne Schaffer’s band Hörselmat, and it was probably through Janne’s recommendation that he ended up on the Super Trouper session.
A highly regarded drummer ever since, Per ended up playing drums on two tracks on ABBA’s last album The Visitors (Soldiers and the title track) in 1981. With the exception of The Day Before You Came, he was the only drummer used on the last group recordings in 1982. Together with Rutger Gunnarsson and Lasse Wellander, he also formed the core unit of musicians used by Björn and Benny on the Chess concept album, the two Gemini albums, and the Josefin Nilsson album Shapes.

Lars Danielsson is one of the top jazz bass players in Sweden. His deeply melodic playing has provided depth to the music of an international cast of jazz players including vocalist Caecilie Norby, saxophonist Rick Margitza, guitarist John Abercrombie, trumpet player Kenny Wheeler, and percussionist Trilok Gurtu. He recorded with Lars Jansson's Trio 84 and the Eternal Now and the Lars Jansson Trio. A member of Hans Ulrik's Jazzpar 99 Combo, which featured guitarist John Scofield and drummer Peter Erskine, Danielsson subsequently performed, along with saxophone/clarinet player Tony Coe, in Carsten Dahl's Jazzpar 2000 Combo.
Far North
Danielsson has garnered considerable acclaim as a bandleader. His 1994 album, Far North, featured accompaniment by soprano saxophonist David Liebman, pianist Bobo Stenson, and drummer Jon Christensen, while his 1997 album, Origo, was recorded with guitarist John Abercrombie and drummer Adam Nussbaum. 2005's sparse and thoughtful Libera Me featured the Danish Radio Concert Orchestra, 2007's Pasodoble relied heavily on the nimble hands of Polish pianist Leszek Mozdzer, and 2009's Tarantella covered a whole range of genres, including Euro-classical chamber music and traditional Scandinavian folk.

Henrik Janson (born 11 March 1961) is a Swedish music arranger, guitarist, record producer and songwriter. Founding a band at thirteen, in 1974, Janson today works with both domestic and international artists. Career
Early years
Janson was born and raised in Hammarö, in the province of Värmland, Sweden. At the age of nine, he began taking cello lessons while three years later starting to learn how to play the guitar, today his main instrument. Before entering high school, where he studied music, Janson already had founded his own jazz-rock band, Mantra, in which he played the guitar and wrote all the music. The band was dissolved in 1981 when Janson decided to move to Stockholm, where he lives today.
Settled in the capital, Janson became a coveted studio musician also frequently being engaged as a record producer and music arranger. In addition he worked as a guitarist on tours with artists such as Roxette, M.Ruff Band, Nils Landgren Funk Unit, Tomas Ledin and Ratata.
In 1989 Janson recorded and released a solo album, Livingroom, for which he was nominated a Swedish Grammis Award, equivalent to the Grammy in the USA.
String- and orchestra arranger
In 1992 Henrik teamed up with his brother Ulf Janson starting to write music arrangements for orchestras, both also working as conductors. Through the years they have collaborated with The London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
The opera crossover quartet Il Divo was formed by the music manager Simon Cowell in 2003. Their self-titled debut album was released in November the following year and went straight to number one in the UK and in seven other countries. Henrik and Ulf Janson arranged the orchestra and worked as conductors on parts of the album,[1] which they also did on the group’s following two UK number one studio albums Ancora and Siempre.[2] On each three records, Henrik also was engaged as a guitarist.[1]
In June 2007, the British tenor Paul Potts was crowned winner of the first season of ITV’s talent show Britain’s Got Talent. Potts’ debut album One Chance, including Jansons’ arrangements for orchestra which the brothers also conducted,[1] came out a month later. Just like Il Divo’s first album it went to number one in the UK,[3] as well as in eight other countries. Two years later, in 2009, they returned working with Potts on his sophomore album Passione.[1]
String arrangements by Janson are also found on seven UK Top 40 number one songs:
"Hallelujah" with Alexandra Burke, the 2008 X Factor-winner[4]
"That’s My Goal" with Shayne Ward, the 2005 X Factor-winner[5]
"Evergreen" with Will Young, the 2002 Pop Idol-winner [6]
"Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake)" with Gareth Gates, the 2002 Pop Idol runner-up [7]
"If I Let You Go,"[8] "Fool Again"[9] and "My Love,"[10] all with Westlife, released in 1999-2000.
Other songs including string arrangements by Janson are "Fuckin’ Perfect" and "I Don’t Believe You" (both with Pink), "Toxic" (Britney Spears), "The Call" and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" (both with The Backstreet Boys).[1]
Songwriting
Alongside arranging and producing music, Janson also writes songs within different genres, from pop and jazz to classical crossover, often in collaboration with other songwriters.
Examples of songs co-written for artists by Janson: "You're Out Of My Life" (Darin), "Don't Tell Me You're Sorry" (S Club 8), "Fools" (Rachel Stevens), "Come Primavera" (Il Divo), "What You Believe In" (Take That), "Like Suicide" (Christian Walz), "The Queen" (Velvet) and "Discoteque" (Elin Lanto). Janson also has contributed with songs on Swedish artist Lisa Nilsson’s albums Små Rum and Viva and working as a guitarist on her albums Himlen Runt Hörnet and Till Morelia.[1]
Collaborations
Through the years, Janson has collaborated with artists such as Aqua, Backstreet Boys, Benny Andersson, Bernard Purdie, Brenda Russell, Britney Spears, Céline Dion, Cody Karey, Eddie Harris, Emilia Mitiku, Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins, Kelly Rowland, Maceo Parker, Max Martin, Michael Bolton, M.Ruff, Nils Landgren, Paul Potts, Peter Jöback, Pink, Randy Brecker, Robyn, Ronan Keating, Roxette, Take That, The Tenors, Toots Thielemans, Westlife and Arch Enemy.[1]
Recent work
On 5 December 2013 Céline Dion released the song "Breakaway" as a single in the UK. Her album, Loved Me Back to Life, also includes "Somebody Loves Somebody", both songs with string arrangements co-written by Janson.[1]
The annual Nobel Prize Awards in 2013 were presented in Stockholm on 10 December. During the following banquet held at the Stockholm City Hall, the classical crossover composition "Anthem for all Mankind",[11] with music written and produced by Janson for the event, was performed by the Swedish opera trio Divine.
